Hydrogen Production Processes and Technologies – Multilingual

Course Duration: ~ 1 – 2hr

Course Overview

This Hydrogen Production Processes and Technologies course provides an introduction to how hydrogen is produced, the technologies used and the emerging approaches that could shape the future of hydrogen production.

Developed by Hydrogen Safe in partnership with ARCADIS. Building on the fundamental principles of hydrogen, delegates will explore the main production methods currently used around the world, including the processes, technologies and considerations associated with each approach. The course also looks beyond established methods to consider developing technologies and how these could influence the future hydrogen landscape.

The course is available in six languages: English, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, German, Spanish and French, enabling organisations to provide consistent hydrogen safety training across multilingual teams and international operations.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamental principles of hydrogen production.
  • Describe the main methods and technologies currently used to produce hydrogen.
  • Recognise the different hydrogen production pathways and their key characteristics.
  • Explain the commonly used hydrogen colour classifications and how they relate to production methods.
  • Identify the key factors that influence the choice of hydrogen production technology.
  • Describe developing and emerging technologies in hydrogen production.
  • Discuss how advances in production technology could influence the future hydrogen industry.

Course Breakdown

Introduction to Hydrogen: Recap
We begin with a recap of the fundamentals of hydrogen, revisiting the key characteristics and concepts needed to understand its production.

This provides the foundation for exploring how hydrogen is produced and why different production methods can result in different characteristics, applications and environmental impacts.

Hydrogen Production Methods
We then explore the main methods used to produce hydrogen.

Delegates will be introduced to the key production processes and technologies, considering how each method works and the factors that influence its use. This includes exploring the commonly used hydrogen colour classifications and how they relate to different production pathways.

Developing Technologies in Hydrogen Production
The final section looks beyond established production methods to explore developing and emerging hydrogen production technologies.

We consider how new approaches could improve efficiency, reduce emissions and influence the future development of the hydrogen industry, providing delegates with an understanding of where hydrogen production technology is heading.
