Hydrogen Transmission & Storage Solutions – Multilingual

Course Duration: ~ 1 – 2hr

Course Overview

This Hydrogen Transmission and Storage Solutions course provides an introduction to the technologies, infrastructure and safety considerations involved in storing and transporting hydrogen.

Developed by Hydrogen Safe in partnership with ARCADIS. As hydrogen production and use continue to develop, effective transmission and storage solutions will be essential to connecting production with end users. Delegates will explore the different options available for storing and transporting hydrogen, the factors that influence the choice of solution and the standards and safety considerations that support their safe deployment.

The course is available in six languages: English, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, German, Spanish and French, enabling organisations to provide consistent hydrogen safety training across multilingual teams and international operations.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the role of transmission and storage within the hydrogen value chain.
  • Describe the key challenges associated with storing and transporting hydrogen.
  • Identify the main options available for hydrogen storage.
  • Explain the different methods used to transmit and transport hydrogen.
  • Recognise the factors that influence the choice of hydrogen storage and transmission solutions.
  • Identify key safety considerations associated with hydrogen transmission and storage.
  • Explain the importance of standards and guidance in the safe development and operation of hydrogen infrastructure.

Course Breakdown

Introduction to Transmission and Storage
We begin by exploring why transmission and storage are important components of the hydrogen value chain.

This section introduces the challenges associated with moving and storing hydrogen and considers how the characteristics of hydrogen influence the infrastructure and technologies required.

Storage Options
Hydrogen can be stored using a range of different approaches, depending on factors such as scale, location, application and required storage duration.

We explore the main hydrogen storage options and consider the principles behind each approach, along with the factors that need to be considered when selecting an appropriate storage solution.

Transmission Methods
We then look at how hydrogen can be transported from where it is produced to where it is needed.

This section introduces the main transmission methods and explores the different approaches used to move hydrogen, including the infrastructure and considerations associated with each method.

Safety and Standards
The final section focuses on the importance of safety, standards and appropriate controls when storing and transporting hydrogen.

We explore the key considerations that influence the safe design and operation of hydrogen transmission and storage systems, and introduce the role that relevant standards and guidance play in supporting safe hydrogen infrastructure.
